Kim Byung-Ok

Choi Yeoung-Wook
Abstract
Some developmental variations of tooth morphology such as cervico-enamel projection, enamel pearls and palato-gingival groove may accelerate the invasion of plaque bacteria and the course of periodontal disease.
The teeth with mophological anomalies (cervico-enamel projection, enamel pearls) were selected among the teeth that had been extracted due to poor prognosis in relation to periodontitis, and were prepared for the histological study.
Histological findings showed the typical feature according to each Grade in cervico- enamel projections., and showed composite enamel pearls (enamel-dentin pearls) in enamel pearls.
And maxillary right lateral incisor with 7-mm pocket depth ( 40 year-old male patient in relation to palato-gingival groove was selected, and the photographs were taken of it before and after odontoplasty.
